Hurry up, Guys!
I’m getting out of Dodge today. We still have no power in my neighborhood due to the broken toothpick-looking utility pole featured in yesterday’s blog post. I’ve continued to ‘make do’ by hitting libraries and Starbucks for their wi-fi capability, coaching from my car to keep my cell phone battery alive, emptying the fridge and practicing gratitude for the warmer and longer days. Fortunately, I had promised to take my daughter–the one who celebrated her birthday last week–to Kripalu for two days of R & R. We leave late this morning.
We’ll be back home Friday afternoon at which point I hope to have power back. My plan is to spend the weekend attending to all the details and planning that fell by the wayside during the survival period. I’ve shown up for everything on my schedule, albeit not as coiffed as I would have hoped. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating. As a business owner I get to choose which 12 hours a day (!) I will work. I actually can’t wait to get back to my desktop computer and landline. Ah, the things we take for granted…

You are a realy trooper, Jane! I totally feel for you as you go without power for days on end. I will get inspiration from your resilance with this challenge should it ever happen to me in the future. (And I will count my blessings when we lose power only for a few hours or a day…everything is so relative, isn’t it!) Hope you enjoy your Kripalu trip with your daughter…and have power back when you return! Janet

That used to be us! An hour here or there, no problem. This was the worst ever in our 34 years in this house. Guess we were due. Anyway, this makes me so grateful for things I’ve taken for granted. Thanks for your comment.

Jane-
I’ve been following your blog posts and each day I hope that I will open the email to find your power back on. It has become somewhat of a thriller… I am happy to hear that you will be enjoying some time relaxing with your daughter. What a wonderful way to erase the stress of the past week.
All the best-
Diane

We’re back on! My husband emailed me from Norwalk that the juice is flowing. Thank you, God! Thanks for your positive thoughts in this direction. Laura and I are having a blast at Kripalu. Just got back from a great hike.
