I feel like Sally Fields accepting her Oscar. I’ve just been acknowledged by an ‘institution’ I admire–Cindy Ratzlaff @BrandYou.
I’ve been following Cindy on twitter for a few weeks now, spent time with each of the videos she sends out, and done the assignment she suggests each time. For the first time in my twitter efforts, I feel as though I’m beginning to get into the swing of this social medium.
Cindy read my recent blog post which featured her and left a beautiful compliment and encouragement as well. She reiterated and reinforced the social media mantra I’d heard but hadn’t adhered to: find, follow, engage, share and influence. What I’d omitted from that formula prior, until now, was another important verb–commit.
What a reward I’ve received in developing this relationship with an industry leader–her comment on my blog. Even though I admired Cindy’s whole approach to becoming engaged with twitter–her step-by-step, clear, and impeccably well-done videos–it was her mention on her 7th video that having a 30,000+ following got the attention of the NYTimes Styles Section. That’s a dream of mine. Now I have a workable formula for getting there. Only 23,378 followers to go. And, I’m committed.
I’m going to take Cindy’s lead and ask that if you enjoyed this post, please add your comment below. Thanks!
